The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism is committed to providing excellent clinical care, education of learners at all levels, and the advancement of knowledge through pursuit of biomedical research. Clinical care is provided in the University of Iowa Health Care inpatient units and the Medicine Specialty Clinic. All division faculty members are board certified in endocrinology and are regionally and nationally recognized for their expertise. The faculty, in collaboration with nurse practitioners and specialized nursing staff such as certified diabetes educators, endocrine nurses, dietitians and social workers, are focused on the delivery of excellent clinical care.

Chaurasia Lab deepens work in metabolic disease target

The Chaurasia Lab, led by Bhagirath Chaurasia, MSc, PhD, assistant professor in the Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism, has continued to explore emerging targets to reduce obesity and treat metabolic conditions. Their recent publication, “Ceramide-induced FGF13 impairs systemic metabolic health,” appears in Cell Metabolism and contributes to the group’s history of groundbreaking research in the field.
