Welcome to the Program

Welcome to the website for the 2025-2026 Incoming Residents. We've designed this page to help make the transition to The University of Iowa Internal Medicine Residency Program as seamless as possible.

Program Information

Requirements for Starting Residency

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Training

All residents must have current BLS and ACLS certification upon starting residency and will be expected to provide documentation of both certifications prior to the first day of orientation.

Iowa Medical Licensure

An Iowa resident physician license is required of any resident practicing in Iowa. Each new resident is responsible for acquiring appropriate Iowa medical licensure prior to beginning residency.

Please note, you do not need to forward the Program Certification Form to us. The program will complete and submit this form to the Iowa Board of Medicine.
