At the University of Iowa, our Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship combines exceptional clinical training with mentorship, innovation, and compassionate care. As the region's premier academic referral center, fellows care for a remarkably diverse patient population with complex serious illnesses while training alongside nationally recognized faculty. Our 811-bed academic medical center offers extensive experience across inpatient palliative care, hospice, outpatient clinics, pediatric palliative care, oncology, transplant medicine, intensive care, and numerous medical and surgical specialties, preparing fellows to thrive in virtually any future practice setting.

Beyond exceptional clinical exposure, Iowa emphasizes longitudinal relationships, scholarly development, and physician well-being. Fellows build their own continuity clinic panel, serve as physicians for hospice patients across the full continuum of care (including 6-bed dedicated palliative care/general inpatient hospice unit), participate in a robust educational curriculum, and enjoy individualized mentorship in a supportive learning environment.
