The Carver College of Medicine at The University of Iowa seeks candidates for the position of Director of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Department of Internal Medicine. The Carver College of Medicine is a highly ranked medical school, is among the top twenty-five public medical schools in National Institutes of Health funding, and holds a unique position within the state and region by providing care and expertise for the most complex medical conditions. The Department of Internal Medicine is an integral part of UI Health Care which is a partnership between the College of Medicine and The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the United States and has close affiliation with the adjacent Iowa City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. With nearly 25 faculty members, the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology has exceptional achievement in research, patient care and teaching, as well as a distinguished record of national and international leadership. As part of the James A. Clifton Digestive Health Center, the division provides high-quality clinical care to patients with gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional diseases in a multidisciplinary environment. Divisional faculty play an important role in educating and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows, and other health care professionals. The division is actively involved in clinical and basic science, with a focus on further understanding gastrointestinal and liver diseases and helping to design improved treatment options for patients with these illnesses.


The Division Director will partner with departmental and health system leadership to advance the success of the division. In this capacity, the director will represent the interests of the division, department, and health system. Responsibilities include faculty recruitment, appointments, and evaluations; managing educational, clinical, and research programs; fiscal planning and management; and both short-term and long-term strategic planning.

Psychotherapist - Department of Internal Medicine; Divisions: General Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism


The Department of Internal Medicine within the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa is seeking a Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist to join our clinical track faculty.


Appointment will be on the non-tenure clinical track at the assistant clinical professor level. The position is a 0.5 FTE and consists of 100% clinical time.


The Department of Internal Medicine is recruiting a psychologist, clinical mental health counselor, or marriage and family therapist to join our outpatient team to provide primarily clinical services to patients in the Weight Management Clinic. This person will be responsible for providing outpatient therapy and clinical assessment as well as education and consultation to patients/families and care providers, as well as provide supervision of graduate student psychotherapy. Therapy may include evidence based individual, couple, family, and group therapy models.


This person will engage in teaching at multiple levels, such as medical residents/fellows, medical students, and graduate students. Teaching opportunities include more formal didactics and clinical teaching. We will work closely with the candidate to optimize their time to work in preferred areas of interest.

This position will involve inpatient and outpatient consultative care for general Infectious Disease patients at the University of Iowa Heath Care Medical Center on the University campus, Medical Center Downtown (community setting), and possible limited time at Medical Center North Liberty (Orthopedic-ID consultation). An outpatient component of staffing the virology clinic (HIV clinic) and/or Travel Clinic is available if desired.

The University of Iowa, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine is recruiting a board-certified interventional cardiologist at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. This position will be in the tenure or clinical (non-tenure) track, depending on qualifications. Appointment at the rank of Instructor (non-track) may also be considered.


Patient care will occur at the University of Iowa’s University Campus, University of Iowa Healthcare’s Downtown campus, affiliated outreach sites, and the affiliated Iowa City VA Medical Center. Duties will include diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, inpatient rounding, outpatient clinic and a share of overnight/weekend call.
