Welcome
The Infectious Disease Fellowship Program at the University of Iowa welcomes you as you read about our program.
Our goal is to foster expertise and excellence in the care of patients with infections. A parallel goal is to train scholars who discover new insights into infectious diseases and their management, advance quality and safety in health care and teach. Each fellow contributes their unique skills to a shared vision of improving human health.
An amazing breadth of infections is encountered on our consult services. Fellows work within interdisciplinary teams in an award-winning academic medical center, supported by a state-of-the-art Microbiology Lab.
Our dedicated faculty with varied areas of expertise are committed to the clinical education of trainees, so that all are prepared to be leaders in a wide array of roles in health care.
The program is attentive to the individual career goals of the fellow, offering 3 tracks for professional development. Trainees successfully prepare for careers in either academic ID through multiple opportunities for mentored scholarly work that may entail additional years of scholarly training or community/private practice.
