CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST, PSYCHOSOCIAL ONCOLOGY

The Department of Internal Medicine seeks a clinical psychologist to join the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation. This position is full time or part time. The psychologist would provide psychological services to cancer patients in a tertiary-level cancer center in an outpatient setting. The psychologist will work as part of an enthusiastic, supportive, integrated interdisciplinary team within the Psychosocial Oncology Program at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. A successful candidate will work collaboratively with oncology providers and psychosocial oncology providers to deliver office-based individual and group therapy, psychological assessments, and interventions on a consultative basis. They will also participate in academic and program-building activities. All clinical, teaching and administrative activities are carried out within the workday with no expectation of after-hours or on-call coverage.  


Primary Duties:



  • Deliver individual and/or group psychotherapy for cancer patients and caregivers using evidence-based treatment approaches.

  • Provide clinical supervision and instruction to graduate and doctoral-level psychology trainees, as assigned.

  • Participate in integrated behavioral oncology consultations through direct clinical care and case consultation meetings with psychooncology team members.

  • Work with the multidisciplinary psychosocial oncology team to identify system improvement opportunities and resolve gaps/disparities in whole-person care.

  • Partake in biopsychosocial distress screening, interdisciplinary communication, collaborative care navigation, and follow-up algorithms.

  • Perform psychological/neuropsychological assessments and interventions for adult cancer patients (if their training allows it).

  • Complete patient clinical and billing documentation according to UI Healthcare guidelines and timelines.
